Snoop Dogg jokes about being a good replacement for Oprah Winfrey once her show ends in 2011

In what has been described the end of an era, Oprah Winfrey announced that her long lasting and extremely popular talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, would breathe its last breath in 2011, once the 25th season comes to an end. For those wondering what will fill in the time, rapper Snoop Dogg has just the answer: his reality show, as he says in an interview cited by Music-News.

Snoop is not a stranger to reality television, as neither is he completely unfamiliar with what a good talk show might entail. The rapper has repeatedly proved that he knows what to do to get audiences interested (just see his music career for confirmation), so perhaps the idea would not be that far-fetched. However, having to fill Oprah’s shoes is a task even a seasoned talk show host would consider twice before jumping in at the chance, it has been pointed out.

Not Snoop though, who feels – more or less on a serious tone – that he has what it takes to do the job and do it well nonetheless. “I’m trying to proposition the networks right now. If you’re wanting a nice, black, exciting young male who wants to turn the TV world right up – get at me. I heard Oprah Winfrey is leaving and there’s nobody who can do what Oprah did but, ahem – hello! Hello!” Snoop revealed in a recent interview.

Those thinking that he might take the show, especially at that hour, and make it into some gangsta type of show that would be far from appropriate for younger audiences should not worry either, Snoop says. In fact, he aims to bring his entire family on board and thus make of the show very wholesome, family-centered entertainment. The only thing missing right now is the network to take him up on this wonderful offer.

“I can bring my wife on so we can have the women and the men on there discussing things,” Snoop says. As Music-News also points out, the rapper does have the experience to back his words up. “Snoop’s previous TV experience started in 2002 with his MTV sketch show ‘Doggy Fizzle Televizzle,’ and also includes his own reality show ‘Snoop Dogg’s Fatherhood’ and appearances in movies including ‘Old School’ and ‘Starsky and Hutch’,” the publication informs.
