Snooki reveals she put her health in grave danger in high school: she developed anorexia

Reality star Snooki, whom the public knows from MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” has revealed she struggled with anorexia back in high school – and only when she realized she had a problem was she able to fix it.

Snooki, who recently partnered with Dr. Siegal for his Cookie Diet to get back in shape, says she was obsessed with her weight when she was younger, as Monsters And Critics informs.

Being a cheerleader at Poughkeepsie who always saw younger girls audition for a spot on the team put her under a lot of pressure, so she eventually ended up eating only a salad or a piece of fruit for lunch.

She got down to 80 pounds, which was her lowest point ever – but she’s tremendously happy now she realized she had a problem in due time.

“I would go into the nurse’s office every day and I would weigh myself. When [the school nurse] realized that I hit 80lbs she was like ‘This isn’t good’,” Snooki reveals.

At the time, she’d only eat lunch, which could consist of an apple or a cucumber, at worst, or a salad at best. She was obsessed with being thin, she says.

“I was a cheerleader and you had freshmen girls coming up that were so tiny. I think that’s why I had a problem. It got really bad,” Snooki explains.

In fact, things got so bad, her parents alerted her teachers, which is how she came to defeat the eating disorder. Also then, she realized not all women are the same.

“My parents told me ‘You need to eat, this is very dangerous.’ So I gained my weight back to like 98lbs, where I always was,” the reality star underlines.

“I think I just realized that having a problem – an eating disorder – it’s not healthy and you can actually die from that. I realized it’s not worth it and you just need to be healthy,” Snooki adds.
