In anticipation of the worldwide Tron Night 2010, which will see the international premiere of an exclusive 20-minute preview, Daft Punk has just dropped their brand new video for “Derezzed.”

“Tron: Legacy,” based on the popular game of the same name, arrives in theaters across the world this December, with word in the industry saying it actually stands good chances of topping James Cameron’s “Avatar” in terms of 3D cinematography.

Daft Punk wrote the entire musical score – the official album will also be released in stores in the US, one week before the film.

Until then, though, fans have a first official video, which is basically only an excuse for a brand new trailer, which serves to build up hype for the film.

As AceShowbiz also points out, the music video is not so much of a music video but rather a brand new trailer. It also features brand new footage from the much anticipated film.

“The score is called ‘Derezzed’ and features no vocal, only electrifying beat which actually matches the movie footage fully loaded with special effects,” AceShowbiz writes.

“Beside writing score for the flick, duo Daft Punk will also make a cameo appearance in the Joseph Kosinski-directed film. They play disc jokeys and have their cameo previewed in this newly-premiered video,” the same e-zine notes.

“Lingering inside a DJ booth, they spin some good music as Michael Sheen’s Castor asks them to do so,” AceShowbiz further says.

“Tron: Legacy” stars Garrett Hedlund and Jeff Bridges as father and son, and Olivia Wilde. It is set in a cyber-universe that is as visually stunning as it is dangerous.

As we were also telling you a while back, industry insiders believe “Tron” will actually manage to make people interested in 3D again by doing precisely what “Avatar” did one year ago.

In a context in which more and more movie studies use 3D as a mere means of charging extra for a ticket, “Tron” is believed to bring 3D cinematography back to basics by immersing viewers in an exotic universe that wouldn’t be imaginable in traditional format.
