Hi-Rez Studios, the developer of the recent Smite multiplayer online battle arena title, has just revealed that Xbox One owners who want to try out the free-to-play game on their console can now start signing up for a chance to enter the upcoming beta testing stage. What's more, a new video and a reward scheme related to the trailer are also available.

Smite burst onto the MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) scene last year for the PC platform, opting to deliver a pretty different take on the whole genre by allowing players to control their heroes from a third-person perspective, instead of an isometric or top-down one, as seen in the likes of Dota 2 or League of Legends.

Xbox One owners can soon start testing the game on their platform

The game has slowly but surely garnered a loyal following on the PC, and now developer Hi-Rez Studios is focusing more on the upcoming Xbox One edition of the free-to-play online game. Those who own the Microsoft console and want to try out the title ahead of its actual release can now sign up for a chance to enter the upcoming closed beta stage on the official website.

Unfortunately for them, Hi-Rez doesn't mention how many players will be able to enter the beta, nor when it will actually take place. However, seeing as how the first Smite World Championship is set to begin later this week, on January 9, it's quite possible that some official announcements will be made at that time.

A brand new cinematic video is available

What's more, Hi-Rez has also rolled out a special cinematic video for Smite, showcasing some intense battles between the different gods present in the actual game, from Neith, to Thor, and many more.

Besides getting to admire the glorious footage, fans are also asked to help promote it via Twitter, and Hi-Rez is offering some great rewards in exchange for their help, according to the studio's website.

It will offer players 40 gems for every 10,000 retweets earned by the trailer before the grand finals of the Smite World Championship on Sunday, January 11, up to a total of 400 gems. Those that want to earn them must play one of the gods featured in the trailer between Tuesday, January 6, and Monday, January 12. The actual gems will be given out next week, so head on back to the game at that time.
