14 DAY TRIAL // Hi-Rez Studios is preparing for Season 2 of its highly competitive third-person multiplayer online battle arena Smite.
Smite offers an experience that follows the general MOBA gameplay paradigm but alters it just enough to seem fresh, by having players control heroes directly, with a WASD control scheme, and using skill shots instead of targeted abilities.
The game takes inspiration from seven different pantheons from across the world, pitting over 60 different deities against each other in team-based arena combat.
The company has revealed the patch notes for the massive Season 2 update, showing off a ton of new stuff and a myriad of tweaks made to ensure that players will get the best and most balanced experience possible.
The most important change, by far, is the complete overhaul of the Conquest map, coming with a brand new graphical design, meant to make objectives easier to locate, and to provide a more satisfying visual experience for gamers.
A lot of other changes
The map has improved neutral creatures interaction and better navigation, as well as a refined jungle layout and some new gameplay rules.
Furthermore, Smite fans will get a handful of new items to take into battle during Season 2, including items that have new active powers, like Achilles' Spear and Shield of the Underworld, and a new starting item.
In addition to this, a ton of existing items get small tweaks in order to provide a more balanced gameplay experience.
To further enhance the competitive aspect of Smite, Hi-Rez Studios has also implemented a lot of small changes to the gods themselves, trying to tone down the overpowered and most used ones, while attempting to give players an incentive to try out some of the least utilized gods.
There are also three new god skins, in the form of Primal Huntress Artemis, Jandroid Janus, and Prizefighter Mercury.
