Malaria-infected mosquitoes love the smell of unwashed feet, researchers say

If getting malaria is not an experience you wish to go through (which I'm sure is the case), then you'd better wash your feet as often as possible when visiting areas festering with malaria-infected mosquitoes.

Specialists now say that these insects are terribly attracted to the odor let out by feet that haven't been washed in quite a long time.

As TVNZ reports, malaria-infected mosquitoes are three times more likely to pay you a visit if your feet don't exactly smell like roses than malaria-free mosquitoes are.

The researchers who have made this discovery hope that this piece of information will help them roll out more efficient ways of keeping these pests at bay.

Presently, this tropical disease is blamed for nearly 600,000 yearly deaths. Most of the people who fall victim to it are children in Africa.
