Because no one said PCs and smartphones should be the only ones capable of talking to you

Smart electronics have been growing in number quickly, and active effort has been put into turning the entire home into a “smart” appliance network. Now we see technology going beyond even that.

After all, you'd think that the traditional back yard grill would stay just that: an old-school, traditional, simple tool.

Not anymore, and it all falls on Lynx Grills. This “technology company that makes grills” has invented a grill that can keep track of what's cooking and let you know when your assistance is needed.

And by “lets you know” we mean it will send you a text message on your smartphone, including information like temperature.

There also seems to be a voice assistant in there somewhere, which tells you how long the cooking has been going for.

All in all, it's a definite upgrade to the standard iron grate. In fact, you not only get text messages, but apparently control the temperature and how text alerts are sent just from a smartphone app.

No wonder old-timers will probably think they're actually looking at a Star Trek prop. To them, I say don't worry, because it's really not.

If it were, it would probably have been able to cook meat and whatever else to perfect specification, even if your personal cooking skills happened to be atrocious.
