Quite a big leap from the sub-10% of the previous year indeed

Bluetooth-connected devices are becoming really widespread, or perhaps I should say that Bluetooth has gotten so convenient that almost all electronics are using them now.

The next step is to integrate smart capabilities in such products. This, ABI Research expects, will happen quickly from now on.

Back in 2012, only 10% of Bluetooth 4.0 devices had smart capabilities.

Now, it is assumed by the analyst firm that, with Bluetooth 4.0 replacing 3.0 as standard, and with consumer preference for versatility, the percentage will rise, until half of all Bluetooth devices have smart features.

ABI Research thinks it'll happen really fast even, by the end of the year in fact (2013). That Android natively supports Bluetooth 4.0 will help there.

During IFA 2013, I laid my hands on some interesting things, like Bluetooth smartwatches and lenses, so I can definitely believe this prediction.
