Sling Media is the manufacturer of the popular Slingbox, enabling users to watch TV remotely via the Internet on a portable device. The list of handsets with support for the SlingPlayer Mobile is rather huge and includes most Windows Mobile powered smartphones and Pocket PCs, Motorola Q, Samsung Blackjack and starting wirh a few months ago, also Palm's Treos.

Now it looks like Sling Media is also interested in adding Apple's iPhone to the list. Apparently, the company's CEO Blake Krikorian has been talking with Apple regarding streaming iTunes music and video to the iPhone.

"I think the question for them is going to be, how are they going to phase the (iPhone) out?" Krikorian said of Apple. "There's been some talk about whether it's going to be a closed device or...open, or whether they'll phase it (out), so I think it's going to be up to them to see when (streaming) might be available. But I cannot comment any more than that."

There is no info on what Apple's opinion might be regarding this matter, but the company has some time ago announced that its handset will not contain any third-party applications. Recently, Sling Media has also started to work on making the Slingbox compatible with the Apple TV, which would result in providing users with the opportunity to access their music libraries on a mobile device.

Considering this, rumor has it that the iPhone might also bring such a feature. Reportedly, content would be streamed from a PC to the Apple TV, then to a Slingbox, finally ending on the iPhone. While this system would require a Slingbox, Apple TV as well as an iPhone, customers are expecting Apple to come with a more simple and convenient solution.
