Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition has just received its launch trailer and a few screenshots, celebrating the new release as well as the many features built into the new version of the original open world game.

Sleeping Dogs appeared originally in 2012 on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms, delivering a pretty solid open world experience made by United Front Games and published by Square Enix. Things like the great story and the intriguing sandbox offered by Hong Kong have made the title quite popular.

Now, over two years after its initial release, the Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is launching on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, offering a variety of improvements over the original.

A launch trailer is now available

In order to once again showcase the different strengths of the new version, Square Enix and United Front Games have just rolled out a launch trailer.

As you can see in the video below, the trailer depicts some pretty great action from the new game, from the combat to the story and more. The screenshots also show off the many adventures of protagonist Wei Shen, a Hong Kong cop who infiltrates the triads to not only bring the gangsters to justice but also to avenge the death of his sister. From engaging in shootouts to hand-to-hand combat and intense confrontations, the images are quite impressive.

More details about the improvements are also available

Square Enix and UFG also showcase in the video the various enhancements present in the Definitive Edition as opposed to the original version of the game.

These include quite a lot of visual improvements, from the higher-resolution textures to the better lighting or the higher number of particle effects. Players can also check out the more detailed character models when going through the story missions, but also the volumetric fog and increased density in terms of pedestrians and traffic when exploring Hong Kong.

The sound engine has been rebuilt to increase the realism, while even more destructible objects are available during hand-to-hand fighting sequences, so that players can use the environment when taking out enemies.

Last but not least, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition also includes the many different DLC packs launched for the original, from story-based expansions like Nightmare in North Point to Year of the Dragon, not to mention the various outfits and items.

Check out the launch trailer for Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, not to mention the new screenshots, below. The title is now available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
