A family of three from Sheffield, UK imprisoned a man in their garage and treated him as if he was a slave. Craig Kinsella, a 34 year-old man suffering from learning difficulties was held captive in a garage, enduring multiple beatings and period of starvation.

David Rooke and his family, 40-year-old wife Donna and 19-year-old son Jamie, were arrested after admitting to falsely imprisoning and attacking Craig Kinsella. A CCTV footage of one of the beatings the slave-like victim endured was released and convinced the judge to condemn Rooke for turning Kinsella into their “dog, slave and punch bag,” notes Metro News.

These kinds of actions are absolutely incredible in today's society, and an entire family contributing to turning one man's life into a nightmare is unbelievable. The Rooks family met Mr. Kinsella a few years ago when he came to work for them for several hours a week in order to be able to claim his social benefits.

After some time, the abusing family took over his finances and then his life, making him work for free and stay captive in their garage out of fear. He used to eat occasional scraps or cold leftovers and endured horrible beatings that were never retaliated.

After the poor mistreated man was found in the summer, he was taken to the hospital where doctors revealed his horrible injuries. He had a broken arm, a fractured rib, extensive bruising around his kidney, a fractured chin and many other both physical and psychological scars.

The outrageous event captured on CCTV footage pictures an episode of severe beating the captive man endured. He was treated worse than a dog for a long period of time, being controlled with beatings and intimidation.

For his grotesque actions, David Rooke was sentenced to six and a half years in prison and was ordered to pay the victim $25,000 (€18,000). Jamie was given four years in jail for bodily harm cause to the victim and Donne was sentenced for four months after admitting to battery.

Craig Kinsella is currently recovering from the physical and mental injuries with the help of specialized agencies. The horrible treatment he enduring during his captivity period made him live with a constant fear that his life could be ended in each moment by the outrageous family that treated him like an actual slave.
