A brand new Skywind video has emerged, showing the progress the developers have made in recreating TES3: Morrowind, in a massive narrated showcase that runs 12 minutes long.

The Skywind project aims to recreate the world and contents of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind game in the form of a massive mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and the people behind the project seem to be very driven and focused on delivering an enhanced Morrowind experience.

If you're wondering why someone would attempt this, well, in addition to being totally awesome individuals, that is, then try to imagine the obsolete Morrowind experience coming to life on a much more powerful engine that can provide a much more immersive and complex journey. That should do it.

The development team goes by the name of the TES Renewal Project, and their newest developer diary shows the progress they made so far in several areas of the game, including new voice acting for the Morrowind dialogue, new models and animations, as well as new textures and music.

Dialogue is a very important aspect of Skywind, with volunteers re-writing and acting dialogue in order to make it flow more naturally and to avoid the initial robotic feel, with a very limited pool of standardized responses.

Dozens of contributors have contributed to the project's score and sound effects, making each region of Morrowind possess its own distinct feel, with the end goal being a richer user experience.

The crafting system is being carefully balanced, attempting to keep the same feel of the original Morrowind, making unique items keep their power and making acquiring them feel just as rewarding as in the original game.

Of course, as always, the video serves a dual purpose, on the one hand the team showing their progress, on the other reaching out to the community in hopes of recruiting new able developers to assist them in their efforts, as the process of completing Skywind is by no means an easy one.

The TES Renewal Project is always recruiting new talent, and people who are interested in joining them as modelers, artists, writers or even voice actors can visit the official Skywind project website and read the contributor guidelines to see what they need to do in order to lend a helping hand.

Also, the same team behind Skywind is also behind Morroblivion, a similar effort that translated the Morrowind content to the then-superior engine of Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.
