Bethesda is working on eliminating these problems from the PS3 game

Bethesda has discussed the specific lag and freeze problems encountered by PlayStation 3 gamers who play its latest The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim game, saying that it’s aware of these things, but that the next patch won’t bring a solution for them.

Skyrim impressed millions of gamers from all around the world, even if it had quite a few glitches, but, thanks to the most recent update 1.2, it became borderline unplayable on the PC, while owners of the PlayStation 3 were still affected by the lag issues once their save game files became too large in size.

Now, after a developer from Obsidian Entertainment explained the causes of these problems, Bethesda has released a statement about Skyrim’s PS3 issues, and said that it’s been reaching out to those who encounter such problems and is close to finding the solution.

"While the 1.2 update fixed the long-term play issues for most PS3 users, we are aware that is not the case for some,” Bethesda said. “We've been reaching out to a number of those users to collect save games, so we can take a look at their specific issues. Right now we know it's not one thing, but a combination of smaller ones that some folks are seeing, but others are not. Some seem to be the PS3 autosaving in the background (you can turn that off), some may be SPU AI updates, and some may relate to dynamic system memory allocation.”

Sadly, the studio has revealed that the next update, 1.3, which is now in final testing and should arrive later this week, won’t bring a solution.

"These fixes are not in the current 1.3 update that is in final testing, but will be in future ones. We understand how frustrating it can be when your game is having issues, and we thank all of you for your continued feedback and patience. Rest assured we take your gameplay experience seriously and will continue working on this until it's resolved."

While patch 1.2 made things a bit better, many Skyrim PS3 owners confirmed to us that lag issues can still appear, making it the game almost unplayable on the Sony console.
