Way above 3's expectations

Who would have thought?! The Skypephone sold out in just a few days since its release out on the UK market. 3 was caught off guard and had to admit the fact that they never expected the device to reach such high sale rates and empty their shelves.

Many stores ran out of Skypephones within just a few days since the handset's release, more than two weeks ago. 3 operator's staff from a central London store said their initial allocation sold out a few days after the handset was launched. They added that their next delivery of 25 had already been pre-sold.

The small Skypephone units available should make it pretty hard to build up in tons of such handset sales. Still, when compared to the carrier's expectations, it turns out that the Skypephone did pretty well in the UK. A great number of people came to the operator's stores to receive more information concerning the device. Staff working here said that the demand has been extremely high for it.

With things standing like this, it turns out to be a real shame that 3 didn't roll out more units of the mobile phone, just to make sure that they can respond to the customer demand. The company said that it will bring new stocks in stores to respond to the high number of requests.

The Skypephone aroused everyone's interest on the alternative it offers in mobile communication. The device makes it possible for users to place free Skype calls in exchange for a monthly fee of 10 pounds. That opens the door to a great number of possibilities and hours of free calls for an incredibly small price.

The device is more of a low end one, managing to pack only average services, aside the great advantage of placing free Skype calls. The little evolved capabilities can also be seen as one of the reasons why it didn't trigger an even higher customer request.
