Skydiver Opening Minor League Game Kicks Baseball Player in the Face

A video of a starting ceremony would almost make a minor league baseball game worth watching.

The footage captured the exact moment Mattingly Romanin, starting shortstop for the Hannibal Cavemen for the Prospect League in Missouri, is hit in the face by a skydiver hired for the event.

“I feel like I got kicked in the face yesterday, oh wait,” he tweeted one day after the incident, according to Fox Sports.

Romanin was standing at second base when he was taken out by the diver. He was the second of three skydivers to be a part of the game, and the other two had no issues upon landing.

The player was fine, he incurred no real injuries and he continued the game, even with the humiliation he had just suffered.
