Disney has not made any announcement for the time being

Apparently, Disney is working on a brand new Tron video game, according to renowned composer Giorgio Moroder.

Moroder composed the soundtrack for "Scarface," "Flashdance," "The Neverending Story" and many others, and his work was also featured in Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

In a recent interview with Clash Magazine, the composer revealed that he was working with Skrillex, the popular electronic music producer, on a brand new installment in the Tron series.

Tron has been a pretty popular game, managing to earn more than the science fiction movie it was based on did back in the day.

Since then, the game has seen a ton of adaptations, and now it looks like Disney intends to give the franchise one more chance to delight people with its neon-infused futuristic action.

Disney has been pretty quiet as far as gaming goes, getting out of the business aside for its highly popular toy-to-life franchise Disney Infinity.

The last video game based on the franchise, Tron: Evolution, was released as a tie-in to the movie Tron: Legacy, and didn't get too many people excited. Hopefully, whatever Disney has in store next is going to prove a bit more inventive, with a bigger storyline, and more varied gameplay.

Still waiting for official confirmation

The gaming industry is usually very tight-lipped on upcoming projects, with nothing getting out until the official announcement lands. This, however, isn't the first time that we get a leak from a musician, and voice actors have been known to drop the ball in a similar manner regarding upcoming, yet unannounced projects.

It is, however, unlikely that the company would acquire such high-profile talent for a Tron tie-in in Disney Infinity, so it's plausible that there's something bigger waiting for us.

Disney has licensed its Star Wars property to Battlefield 4 developer DICE, who is currently working on Star Wars Battlefront, an upcoming shooter set in the rich science fiction universe created by George Lucas in the '70s.

Dragon Age: Inquisition creators BioWare and Battlefield Hardline maker Visceral are also rumored to be working on Star Wars properties.
