A college in Saratoga Springs, New York, is actually introducing a course on everyone's former favorite singer, Miley Cyrus. People at the Skidmore College will be able to study in depth, all the ramifications and implication of Miley Cyrus' career and actually get grades for that.

The course will be called “The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender and Media” and it's going to include discussion on gender, race, class, fame and power in our modern society. While we can all agree that this is a topic that elicits seemingly endless discussions, those discussions are better suited for the pub, over a pint of beer than in a college class.

This odd bit of news is reported by ABC which claims that the singer will become a study subject at the liberal college in Saratoga Springs. Professor Carolyn Chernoff went on the record and said “[Cyrus] complicates representations of the female body in pop culture in some ways that are good, bad, and ugly.”

Chernof also pointed out that the class is going to focus on Miley's transition from Hannah Montana to the pop icon that isn't afraid to bear all on stage and also do outrageous stunts that either shock, enchant or disgust people.

The course has been scheduled as an intensive summer course aimed at students who are looking to delve deeper into these specific topics. The professor has even expressed interest in having the singer over to talk to students, if she were interested.

While this might sound like a good idea to many of the students, there is no indication that Miley, who is currently on tour with her Bangerz album, will have the time to stop by and talk to these people about how she changed general perception about the female body in today's society.

And if you're thinking that there is going to be some twerking in classes or in the exam, think again. Chernoff is quoted as saying “Sorry, dudes, but this is sociology. Learn to twerk on your own time.”

This should weed out any students that might think this would be an easy way to earn some credits and also get to see some girls twerking furiously just to prove that they understand what Miley is about.

A similar course is held at the Rutgers University College, but that one focuses on Beyonce, and Chernoff maintains that there are significant differences between the two agendas. The professor says that she was shocked by the positive response she's received from students so far, as well as from the college staff.
