A new season of the controversial TLC reality show Sister Wives, which documents the life of Kody Brown, his 4 wives and their 17 children, will premiere soon and, in a sneak peek released by the network – and embedded below for your viewing pleasure – we get to see the head of the family sit down with his daughter and her boyfriend for “the talk.”

However, he’s not about to give them that talk about the bees and the flowers, and what happens when a boy fancies a girl and the other way around, as you might imagine. As you can see in the video, Mr. Brown and wife Christine go down the same route as another famous TLC couple, the Duggars, stars of 19 Kids & Counting, famous for their strict religious beliefs.

Mykelti and John have been dating for a month, and Christine is worried that they’re seeing too much of each other. Laughing at first about how he should “clean his gun” and then have a talk with the young boy, Kody eventually invites the two to the library for a serious chat on what would be best for them at this age.

He warns them that kissing is “dangerous,” just like other forms of making bodily contact are, like holding hands because, when they occur, things are set in motion – and all these things lead to heartbreak.

“I am very well aware of how the heart works at 17 and 18 versus at 25. What we want to prevent as parents are the danger zones. Kissing, holding hands that all leads to broken hearts. If you get too close and you get too physical the nature of it you’re going to break up I want to say ‘Hey listen have a friendship’,” Kody explains to the two youths.

“When you kiss, the person that you kiss, their hormones go into your mouth and it registers certain things that will stimulate both the heart and the body for other reasons. I’ve read enough science on it to feel like science backs me. Kissing is very dangerous,” he continues.

Even if you think his parenting is a bit too extreme and if you’re against banning all forms of contact between your child and the person they’re dating, even when they’re this young and hence prone to making mistakes in the heat of the moment, you have to admit that Mr. Brown has a point in emphasizing the need for friendship before the relationship moves forward.

His approach to the issue has drawn comparisons to the Duggars, who also forbid their children to kiss or hold hands with their dates during courting, when they’re accompanied by chaperons at all times.

The idea is not to have children do as their parents, but rather to encourage these youths to look for qualities that go beyond the superficial in their dates: that is to say, instead of being blinded by how good looking they are or what an amazing kissing technique they have, they’re encouraged to discover them as individuals, to build a friendship and learn mutual respect.

This is basically what Kody Brown is also trying to tell his daughter, at least based on this snippet released.
