The Ribbon now speaks your language

Microsoft has extended the language capabilities of the 2007 Office System beyond those that ship by default with the productivity suite. Office 2007 users will now be able to create and edit documents in their native language but not only this. Via the Single Language Packs, users will also be able to alter the Menus and graphical user interface in Office 2007 according to their language of preference.

Microsoft has even retouched the way Single Language Packs are delivered to Office 2007 users. The only downside to having Office 2007 "speak" your language is that you have to pay for it. "In this version of Office, there is no need to buy the complete set of proofing tools for dozens of languages, as was the case before. Single Language Packs, which include the proofing tools for one given language (spell-checker, thesaurus, grammar checker, etc.) are now available from 10 Online stores worldwide (with more to come)," Microsoft informed.

In order to access a language pack for Office 2007, all you have to do is follow this link. Once on the Microsoft Office Language Packs, select "Buy a single language pack now" and then choose your country from the drop-down menu. According to Microsoft, users will be redirected to a store near them were they will be able to buy the preferred language. However, at the time of this article, the drop-down list was not functional.

"Remember that, if you have an English version of Office, it comes with the French and Spanish proofing tools, so you don't need to buy a speller, a grammar checker or a thesaurus for these languages," explained a member of the Office Natural Language team.
