Working out can often cause a breakout of acne even in people who are not normally faced with this problem, experts point out. As we were also telling you a while ago, there are several proactive steps we can take to prevent body acne from appearing but, just in case we did not pay sufficient heed to them, FitSugar is here to assure us that not all is lost even when acne breaks out.

One of the first things we must constantly bear in mind if we want to be free of acne and especially bacne (which, as its name implies, appears on the back) is that we have to choose our working out clothes with plenty of attention. First of all, FitSugar underlines, we should opt for items that cover as little skin as possible (within decency limits, of course) and that allow it to breathe properly. Workout acne is mostly caused by clogged pores, which, in the combination with sweat, dirt and bacteria, lead to the nasty breakouts. The idea here is to try and find clothes that are made from materials that pull the sweat off the skin, thus diminishing the risk of infection.

Another way to keep the pores clean is by washing often. Experts urge us to wash our face with water and soap before working out as well, so as to remove all dirt from the pores. The same must also apply once we’re done with exercising; we might also considering using a moisturizer especially made for acne-prone skin for better results.   Another useful tip in the fight against workout acne is that we should spend as little time as possible wearing the workout clothes. Once the class is over, changing into clean clothes is essential – as also is showering, but this part can be postponed a bit if our gym is not equipped with one that we fancy, or if we live close enough not to need to use the public shower.

“Shower immediately after you’re done exercising. Not only does it rinse the sweat and pimple-causing bacteria off your skin, but the water also helps to cool your body temperature down so you don’t continue sweating once you get out. Don’t have time to shower? Definitely wash your face and put on clean, dry clothes.” FitSugar says. Gently exfoliating in the shower is also a wonderful method to unclog pores and peel off dead cells. In this sense, loofah gloves are ideal for everyday use (and even for the face) because they’re both extremely gentle and efficient.
