It’s not uncommon for huge names in showbiz, be they actors or musicians, to make uncredited cameos in big-budget studio releases: celebrities are also fans, after all. Since September, a rumor has been making the rounds that Daniel Craig personally asked J.J. Abrams to get him a part in his upcoming “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.”

Abrams never commented on it (he is notoriously secretive about ongoing projects), just like Craig wouldn’t either. If he did ask the director to cast him in the movie as a “surprise cameo,” it would have defeated the purpose to go out and confirm it to the press.

The other day, at the premiere of “Man Up” in London, Simon Pegg, who is also rumored for a cameo appearance, may or may not have confirmed it for the media, the Daily Mail reports.

“I wasn’t a Stormtrooper,” he said when asked about his cameo. “Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper… I shouldn’t have said that.”

Either Simon is pulling pranks on fans because he knows the kind of interest they have in all things “Star Wars,” or he really did let the cat out of the bag by accident. One thing is certain: if he’s trolling the fans, he did his homework on it, because the aforementioned rumors did say that Craig’s face would be obscured for the entire duration of his appearance.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be out this December.
