SilverStone released many storage devices in the time since its inception, and it looks like it is ready to start shipping a new one, namely a network-attached storage device with more uses than would be initially assumed.

NAS devices have practically become a regular part of many home and small office networks, besides showing up even amongst small and medium businesses.

Basically, they are single-purpose (usually) devices which can house one or more storage units commonly found in PCs and make them accessible via Ethernet and, in many cases, USB, eSATA and other interfaces.

SilverStone is one of the companies known to dabble in this field, something once again confirmed by the arrival of the DC01.

This particular NAS can be seen as somewhat different from the rest by virtue of its ability to play the part of a media server, when required.

In fact, its aluminum exterior and overall aesthetically sound design allows it to fit into any room environment.

One internal bay is available, meaning that a 2.5-inch SATA drive can be placed inside it, while hardware centered around an ARM11 dual-core processor handles the actual data transfers and such.

Gigabit Ethernet is the primary interface used for connection to host personal computers or other devices, while USB 2.0 ports (two) and an eSATA connector also exist, just in case.

What's more, the DC01 can be used as an iTunes/DLNA print server and even supports VPN/BitTorrent clients.

All this is packed inside a frame measuring 123 (W) x 123 (D) x 33 (H) mm and should be selling for $149.99, backed by a one-year warranty.

Customers that are entertaining thoughts of buying one of SilverStone's creations but need more information in order to make a decision don't have to do anything more than just drop by the official product page on the company's website.
