It has a magnetic surface, of all things, so that it may latch onto cases

Magnets aren't the sort of thing you should place around electronics, especially speakers or the like, or at least this was the case until some years ago.

Technology has become much more resilient since then, to the point where USB 3.0 hubs are being made with magnetic surfaces, so that they may latch onto PC cases made of SECC steel.

One such product has been launched by SilverStone. Called EP01, it is a 4-port USB 3.0 hub shaped like a hexagon.

It has one upstream type-B connector, one with a DC input (supports USB charging specification 1.2, for devices that draw more than 1,000 mA) and down downstream USB 3.0 connectors.

That way, it can charge a whole bunch of smartphones, tablets and other accessories at once.

For a 65 gram / 0.14 lbs item measuring 71.6 x 63.3 x 19.5 mm / 2.81 x 2.49 x 0.76 inches, that's not bad at all.

Pricing and availability details are unavailable though.
