Low profile CPU cooler for the LGA 1156 platform

SilverStone decided it was time to offer something for the low profile market, so it went ahead and created a cooling solution that does its best to merge space efficiency, affordability, silence and performance together in an affordable package. The company unveiled a great number of coolers over the years, some large, some smaller, but this time it went for the HTPC front. As such, it created the Nitrogon NT07-1156, what it describes as a 'super slim profile' CPU cooling solution.

The entire device measures 93 (W) x 36.5(H) x 93 (D) mm and weights 310 grams. This much alone is enough to qualify it as a suitable component in practically any type of small form factor PC. HTPCs (home theater personal computers) for instance, will benefit from a lower sound output, allowing whatever multimedia file is being played to enable a whole new level of immersion.

For those interested in the specifics the heatsink is made of extruded aluminum fins and has a 90mm fan whose rotary speed can vary between 1200 RPM (rotations per minute) and 3000 RPM. This provides solid airflow.

Additionally, the maximum sound output is of 38 dBA, though the noise can go as low as an (almost) inaudible 15 dBA. All in all, this product should improve any HTPC system, so long as said system has a configuration based on an Intel LGA 1156 platform.

“The custom 90mm fan was designed with fan blades to achieve the highest air pressure possible while maintaining an acoustic profile that is rare for cooler of this size. At a total height of only 37mm tall, the NT07-1156 is likely the best choice and the only choice for slim sized cases utilizing LGA 1156 processors,” states the official website.

Unfortunately, SilverStone decided to stay silent when it came to exact availability details, saying only that the Nitrogon will be available soon. Until new informations arises, end-users should have more than enough time to scrounge up the 22.49 Euro required to purchase it.
