Eager to take advantage of the newest in flash storage technologies, Silicon power has proudly announced the addition of the Unique 530 flash drive to its product portfolio, which features the Chip-on-board technology and a high level of durability.

As always, technology is advancing at a steady pace and even flash drives keep getting new means of boosting one or more of their traits.

The USB 3.0 interface enables much faster transfers, special enclosures grant unparalleled durability, unusual designs increase the aesthetic appeal, etc.

Silicon Power definitely intended to make its latest Flash Drive stand out from the fold, and while it did not use all of the above, it definitely succeeded in at least partially justifying the name.

The new flash drive is known as the unique 530 and, while it does not use the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface, it does excel in terms of reliability and endurance.

For one, it measures 56.18 x 20.14 x 9.09 mm, which is actually a fairly compact form factor compared to many existing memory sticks.

The drive also utilizes an eco-friendly casing that confers shock resistance upon it and allows for it to be more easily held.

Nevertheless, the truly important asset is the chip-on-board (COB) technology, which makes the unit not just shockproof, but also dustproof and waterproof.

As for the design, it has a push-out, lidless mechanism, which keeps the USB 2.0 connector concealed and safeguarded against any sort of damage.

'The quality and design of Unique 530 are exceptional. The color of Unique 530 comprises of pure prevailing white and natural green bringing an unprecedented fresh look,” states the press release.

“In addition, there is a non-slip ripple design to prevent accidental drops. The retractable USB port design is convenient while protecting the connector,” the company added.

Silicon Power is offering 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB models of the drive, though exact prices have not been mentioned yet.
