USB flash drives don't really stand apart from each other that easily anymore, not from a hardware standpoint anyway, which is why companies, like Silicon Power in this case, have to put such emphasis on aesthetics.

Silicon Power has formally launched the Ultima U05 and Blaze B05 flash drive units, which look very much alike, but differ in terms of performance.

It all boils down to the capabilities of the universal serial bus connection installed on each.

Thus, the Ultima U05 features a USB 2.0 port (so it's limited to 4.8 Mbps), while the Blaze B05 is a USB 3.0 drive (4.8 Gbps).

The latter probably won't use the technology to its fullest, since USB devices haven't quite reached the point where they can leverage that interface. It should still move data several times faster than the former drive though.

Anyway, the Ultima U05 and Blaze B05 can be colored in Classic Black, Navy Blue or Sweet Pink (matte surface), and have retractable USB connectors (allowing for single-hand operation). The operating temperature is of 0° C to 70° C, give or take.

They also support the Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Mac OS 10.3.x, and Linux 2.6.x operating systems.

Furthermore, Recuva File Recovery is installed, allowing erased files to be recovered (photos, documents, music, videos, whatever else). There's even a LED indicator that shows the status of the newcomers.

All in all, the SP Ultima U05 and Blaze B05 are sturdy and fast storage units (the former less than the latter) with matte, scratch-resistant packaging and lifetime warranties. Sadly, the Silicon Power Ultima U05 USB 2.0 and Blaze B05 USB 3.0 flash Drives have not been given prices yet.

They will vary a lot though, because the Ultima U05 comes in 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB capacities, while the Blaze B05 offers 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB options.
