The geometry isn't quite sacred, but it's still nice to look at

Portable storage devices aren't all that different in terms of capacity/performance per price ratio, so companies have to resort to aesthetics to differentiate them.

On this particular occasion, Silicon Power decided that a geometrical pattern reminiscent (loosely) of diamonds was a good choice.

Thus it was that the Diamond D01 came to be, complete with an USB 2.0 port (no 3.0, alas), an LED indicator, plug-and-play support (no need for external power adapters) and a sleep mode, for power saving.

The aluminum case is colored metallic black and scratch-resistant too.

Finally, the SP Widget free download software adds several security tools to the table.

Unfortunately, though the company mentions a 2-year warranty in the press release, it neglects to provide a price. At least there is a product page with everything else of relevance.

Until sales start, you all can decide if you want a 500 GB, a 750 GB or a 1 TB drive.
