Maori flavor for Google

A couple and some volunteers are now working on a new flavor of the famous Google search that might be officially included in the search technology very soon. Potaua Biasiny-Tule, 32 year old and his wife, Nikolasa, 35 year old, formed a team of volunteers and started translating several search pages in order to develop a special Google Maori webpage. According to The New Zealand Herald, the official from the Mountain View giant Google might be interested in this project and may join their efforts in order to build a more efficient product relevant for the local users' search queries.

At this time, there are a lot of regional Google versions but this new one might represent an innovation when it comes to the search giant because it would be built by volunteers and Google fans. It seems like the main reason of this new flavor of Google Search would be represented by an effort to encourage Maori residents to connect to the Internet.

"Mr Biasiny-Tule said Google had provided a template but making sure translations lined up with technology-based Maori words, agreeing on common words across different dialects and relying on a team of volunteers meant the task was time-consuming. Mrs Biasiny-Tule, a former Waikato University Maori and Pacific development lecturer, said the name of the search option was still up for debate but Google Maori was the most popular one so far," The New Zealand Herald informed today.

An official statement from the search giant Google is not yet available but, as I said, the company's employees might join the Maori efforts to build the new version of the search engine. This is another proof that Google is popular in every corner of the world and sometimes, it's enough to be famous to expand your products as the fans can work on your image.
