BioWare has announced that all those players who pre order Dragon Age 2 before the date of January 11, 2011 will have their editions of the upcoming role playing game upgraded to a newly announced Signature Edition, which comes packed with quite a bit of extra content.

The BioWare Signature Edition includes a number of unique weapons which will make the fights in the game more enjoyable and a tad easier, a download code that allows the gamer to access and then download the soundtrack for Dragon Age 2 and an in game armory.

Those who get the Signature Edition will also get access to a new and yet unnamed characters which is playable and comes complete with his own set of missions, presumably somehow linked to the story of main character Hawke.

BioWare says that all the content added to this new special edition of the game is worth about 20 dollars and that those who do not pre order early to get access to the Signature package will be able to pay for the extra content that they are interested in.

BioWare has been offering extra content for those who pre order special editions for both Dragon Age: Origins and for the two Mass Effect titles.

A significant number of pre orders means that the developer and its publisher can rely on a certain amount of stable revenue for a game so companies are trying to encourage gamers to pay for a game as soon as possible.

Players tend to wait for news and reviews before picking up titles to make sure that it suits their tastes but for BioWare, which pretty much specializes in role playing games, fans will put money down early as long as clear incentives are laid out.

Dragon Age 2 will be out on March 8 in the United States and on March 11 in Europe, available to those who game on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PC.
