Sigma Photo Pro and Sigma Capture Pro are two of the most popular photo editing software made available by the famous Japanese company, intended to offer alternative editing solutions for all their camera users.

Following the release of the new 18-35 F1.8 DC HSM lens, Sigma updated Photo Pro, its proprietary PC software for displaying and editing images shot with any SD1 and SD1 Merrill Sigma digital camera.

If you are the owner of either of these two cameras and also have the new 18-35 F1.8 DC HSM lens, you should be pleased to know that the new Photo Pro version 5.3.3 is now optimized for RAW (X3F) images taken with this camera/lens combination.

When it comes to camera improvements, Sigma's new firmware updates for the SD1 and SD1 Merrill cameras will refine the colors in peripheral areas when taking photos with a wide open aperture (at or around F1.8).

More information about the improvements made for Photo Pro and the SD1/SD1 Merrill camera firmware is included with the full changelog below:

SIGMA Photo Pro v5.5.3: When the image is taken with the combination of the 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM and SD1 or SD1 Merrill, the development of the image from RAW data (X3F file) is optimized with this updated version.

SD1/SD1 Merrill (v1.11 / v1.06) firmware update: When it is used with the 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM, it refines the colors in peripheral areas of the images taken at or around aperture of F1.8.

Please keep in mind that this firmware update can be applied to any SD1 camera that has firmware v1.10 or lower. Also, for the SD1 Merrill, the update applies to any camera that has firmware v1.05 or lower.
