The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM lens was introduced by the Nippon optics maker back in January at the CES 2014 show along with the new Contemporary lens, Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM.

Until now, Sigma did not reveal the lens' suggested retail price but, according to Australian photographic equipment store CameraPro, the upcoming Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM will feature a price tag of $1,499 AUD, which is around $1,350 / €1,000.

The lens comes with a more complex construction (5 more elements) than its predecessor, shorter minimum focusing distance, and a bigger lens body that doesn't necessarily make it heavier than the previous version.

Along with the new 50mm lens, Sigma also announced the 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM entry-level optic that features a 35mm equivalent focal length of 27-300mm. It will be available for purchase starting February, at a price of $399 / €300.
