Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM is already available for Canon and Nikon mounts, but the company has never set a launch date for the Sony A-mount version of this amazing lens.

According to SonyAlphaRumors, when asked about the 18-35mm A-mount availability, Sigma replied, “No set date but it should be available for shipment by the end of February.”

Previously, the lens was rumored to be shipped this month, but it seems that Sigma is postponing its release until February, while an official announcement could be made at CP+ 2014 in Yokohama.

Recent tests show that Sigma's new standard zoom lens is the best APS-C format optic available on the market, outperforming Nikon's 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED and Tamron's SP 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II XR VC LD Aspherical IF.

For the time being, you can pre-order the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM lens for Sony A-mount from Amazon or B&H at a price of $799 / €590.
