The sidux-2007-02 latest Sidux release is now available for both amd64 and i686 systems. This is the second official release and comes in two KDE flavors: lite and full. Based on the not so stable Debian branch called Sid, Sidux is currently maintained by the Sidux Foundation Inc., a team working with the former Kanotix developer, Stefan Lippers-Hollmann.

This release is based on the 2.6.21.3 kernel version and it comes with several new patches that should enssure a better hardware support, especially in the wireless area. The sidux developers also stated they've worked on overhauling the early boot sequence and adapting the release to a wider variety of desktop environments and window managers. They've also claimed they are working on the second boot stage, the localizations, a toolkit abstraction/ harmonization and on refactoring the installer.
