La Tale brings Asian success for free

It is a known fact that successful RPG games in Asia will eventually hit the European or North American stands and this is exactly what will happen to La Tale, a charming side-scrolling MMORPG. Scheduled to debut sometime during the third quarter of 2008, La Tale will be brought to us by publisher OGPlanet.

The game, unlike the hardcore RPGs released nowadays, comes with some whimsical art style and detailed 2D worlds, as well as simple gameplay and intuitive quests, and these are exactly the reasons this game will be accessible for players of all ages and it will prove to be a joy to play, as a welcome break between a WoW session and a Lineage II quest-solving.

"We're always on the lookout for high-quality games that will translate well to American audiences and adapt to our free-to-play business model," said Don Choi, COO of OGPlanet. "La Tale will be an excellent addition to our steadily growing portfolio of top-notch free-to-play games."

Yes, you've read this right - probably the most important "feature" of the game will be the fact that it is free to download, free to play. Except from that, La Tale's vibrant guild system includes beautifully designed Guild Rooms where players can grow crops and spend time with their guildmates, as well as a wide array of guild emblems to distinguish individual guilds. Character customization options abound, and a variety of pets and accessories are available to further personalize each character. But you know that this stuff is already common-sense when it comes to RPG games. All that matters, after all, is that the quests are decent (at least) and people start playing. And we'll see if that happens no sooner than the third quarter of the year.
