14 DAY TRIAL // A man in the UK claims to have found a mouse inside a loaf of bread he got from an Aldi store. What's more, the shopper says that, when he first laid eyes on it, the rodent was very much alive and staring back at him through the packaging.
To prove that he is no liar, the man snapped a couple of photos of the mouse and posted them online. “Cheers, @AldiUK, just used your shop in Mk for the first time... and last,” he wrote in the message accompanying the pictures.
Andrew Odell's photos of the live rodent he found inside his packaged sliced bread are now making the rounds. The man's Twitter post has been shared thousands of times and it looks like the supermarket chain has lost a few customers.
As shocked as he was to find the rodent crawling all over his bread, it looks like Andrew Odell didn't have the heart to squash it. “Fortunately the mouse is fine, the same cannot be said about my heavily pregnant wife,” he added in another post.
Aldi is yet to comment on the incident
As per usual when such incidents chance to happen, supermarket chain Aldi is being diplomatic and refusing to comment on Andrew Odell's discovery.
In a statement released in response to the man's complaint about having found a live mouse in his packaged bread, the supermarket chain merely says that it is investigating the occurrence and reassures people that the safety and satisfaction of its customers comes first.
“Please be assured that the safety of our shoppers is Aldi’s number one priority. We have contacted the customer and will look into this as a matter of urgency,” the statement reads.
It is to be expected that, once Aldi is done investigating this unfortunate incident, Andrew Odell will be offered some kind of compensation. Even so, it's doubtful the man will ever again visit one of the supermarket chain's stores.
