The victim, identified as 25-year-old Yang Xibing, is walking by a construction site when the ground collapses underneath him.
According to Sky News, authorities clarified that the depression that was formed is about six meters wide. Xibing was still alive when he was helped out of the cavity, but passed away in hospital care not long after.
The incident has prompted road safety concerns among residents, after the ground reportedly sank as a result of excessive digging without a permit for the area.
