Because everyone hadn't already seen this coming a thousand miles away

Remember last month? When we said that Amazon had opened an online portal for 3D printing technology? Well, the web shop did so well that Amazon can expect more companies to add their endorsement.

There was no chance that Amazon's decision to launch a website section specifically dedicated to 3D printing stuff would fail to pan out. Not when additive manufacturing is the world's darling.

Anyway, the new section on the Online Store now is called the “Creative Expressions” section, where you can ask Mixee Labs (and possibly other vendors in the future) to customize a product for you via 3D printing.

You can get stainless steel rings with specific patterns, a Mixee Me mini bobblehead, and various other things.

I wouldn't be surprised if more 3D printing service providers and 3D printer makers themselves were bound to add their names to the list of companies accessible through Amazon's worldwide ordering system.

Already, there have been thousands of orders, and the number can only go higher from here.

According to the PR Manager for Amazon Services, Erik Fairleigh, customers will get to decide which direction the company takes in this field. Who knows, maybe someday Amazon will create its own 3D printing service and a 3D printer bearing its specific brand as well. Stranger things have happened, like the word “selfie” making it into the dictionary.
