In this instance though, a Shenzen-based company decided to make its product more noticeable by packing the system's not at all bad performance capabilities inside a brushed aluminum chassis.
Initially, netbooks were designed in such a way as to go along with their intended purpose of cheap devices with entry-level computing capabilities. This meant that models had an aspect suggesting the modest hardware and reduced number of features provided by the configuration. The Sheng T108, as opposed to these unimpressive products (aesthetically-wise), follows in the footsteps of the HP Mini 2133, a netbook that distinguished itself from the fold through its thicker and more imposing aluminum casing.
The English name of the manufacturer is Sheng Potential Technology Co. Shanzai sources suggest that the actual tactic of the company is to offer devices whose performance slightly exceeds that of other products. This is consistent with the gadget in question, as it has capabilities placing it in the higher tier of netbooks without making it unnecessarily powerful and costly.
The brushed aluminum case houses the 945GS chipset and an Intel Atom N280 central processing unit. The maximum memory employable in the device is 2GB DDR2 and the used hard drive provides a maximum storage capacity of 250GB. The netbook is equipped with a VGA port, a SIM card for 3G, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and even has a built-in webcam. In addition, it runs on a reliable three-cell 3000mAh polymer battery.
The product is obviously superior to regular netbooks, which normally use 160GB of storage and only 1GB of memory. In addition, the price is set at $300, rather convenient for a reasonably strong device with an aspect that makes it stand out.
