The development team at Might and Delight announces that it is working on a new title called Shelter 2, which is set to expand on the core mechanics of the first title, while allowing players to become a lynx mother trying to protect her children.

The title will allow gamers to experience the entire life cycle of a mother lynx, starting with the moment when the just pregnant animal needs to find a good location for her den and then prepare to delivery her kids into the world.

Gamers will then have to find resources in order to nurture the cubs and make sure that they survive and thrive in the long term.

The gameplay of Shelter 2 will be enhanced with new systems, including the use of stamina, new types of movement and a larger variety of fauna to kill.

The new dangers of the world can be avoided by calling the cubs closer and by actually lifting and carrying them across the landscape faster than they could move on their own.

Anders Westin, the chief executive officer of Might and Delight, states, “The essence of Shelter as a concept is keeping your family alive. But we have decided to let the animal itself set the pace and character of the gameplay. The badger translated into a slow and linear journey - with the lynx however, Shelter 2 will become a much more forceful experience, where improving your techniques for hunting prey takes a much bigger role.”

The den that players will create in Shelter 2 can be used to regain strength but also to place bone trophies and other rare pickups, which will include plants and leafs.

All the environments featured in the game will be much larger and give the player more freedom to explore and to plan their strategy for survival.

Andrew Westin adds, “The beauty of nature goes hand in hand with its unforgiving rawness. That is central in Shelter 2, and one of the reasons we chose to make a game about a Lynx. They are in middle of the food chain, and there are far more vicious things out on the cold tundra.”

The team at Might and Delight says that it introduced unique imagery and sounds to create an abstract mood similar to that which players appreciated in the first title in the series.

Shelter 2 will be launched during the fall on the PC using a variety of digital distribution services.
