Singer talks to David Blaine about drugs, kids, and music

She may be 56 years old, but Madonna isn’t about to stop trying to get people hot on the collar, especially if that means stepping on a few toes – of those people who think she should “act her age.” Proof of that is her brand new spread in Interview magazine, which is meant to drum up some media attention for her upcoming album.

The Queen of Pop has been teasing fans about her latest project throughout the year, and industry people believe that it should drop in early 2015. The first single is thought to be called “Rebel Heart,” a sample of which leaked late last week but was pulled instantly.

Until fans get a proper taste of the music Madonna has been working on, there’s this Interview spread and accompanying interview to focus on.

Madonna shocks again: latex and flowers

If Kim Kardashian can #BreakTheInternet by exposing her backside, then Madonna too should be free to try the same by showing off her cleavage.

The Interview spread, photographed by Marcus Piggott and Mert Alas, though heavy on Photoshop, is pure Madonna: after decades of grabbing attention with her antics in front of the camera and her refusal to play by the rules, whichever they might be, she’s earned the right to stay true to herself.

So the Interview spread is all about latex and flowers, lascivious poses that suggest a very intimate act has either taken place or is about to, and some flashing of perfect breasts. Again, there’s a lot of Photoshop in the photos, all of which you will find in the gallery below with just one exception, but the overall feel of the spread is exactly what you’d expect of Madonna.

Madonna, drugs, music, and children

The accompanying interview is conducted by David Blaine, famous illusionist and a good friend of the singer’s. Madonna talks about her children and how she finds inspiration in them and their life together. Happiness and pain, love and the absence of love are also among the things that inspire Madonna when she’s working on new music.

She says the worst thing about her life is never finding a moment’s peace because she’s always surrounded by noise, be it from the children or the many people in her entourage, and how she’d do Blaine’s experiment of being shut in for a day. She hates the idea of sitting still, though.

The singer also opens up about her past drug use, and while she’s honest about trying just about anything she could get her hands on, she says she never really liked the high brought on by the drugs. In fact, if she’s to be completely honest, whenever she felt the drugs were starting to work on her, she’d drink a lot of water to flush them out of her system.

“A lot of people drop acid or do drugs, because they want to get closer to God. But there's going to be a short circuit, and that's the illusion of drugs, because they give you the illusion of getting closer to God, but ultimately they kill you. They destroy you,” Madonna says.

New Madonna album is pretty much a secret

For the entire year, the singer has been teasing her fans about the new album, mostly on social media. With all that – and despite the aforementioned leak – very little is actually known about it.

Rumor has it that fans should expect some interesting collaborations with currently hot producers, which should be in line with Madonna’s work so far: she’s always trying to reinvent herself by switching up her image and her sound to reach out to new niches of the audience.

The name of Avicii has been thrown around online in connection to Madonna’s new album, but it remains to be seen if he’s really on board – and to what extent.

This next album, expected to be out in early 2015, will be Madonna’s first album since the 2012 “MDNA,” which was a smashing hit.
