A new version of the Shazam for Android application is now available for download from the Android Market, with a revamped interface and with a series of new features included into the mix.

The new flavor of Shazam's mobile app for Android offers users the possibility to listen to clips of music that they have Shazam’d, and also to access music Shazam’d by their friends.

The mobile service enables people to easily identify music, and also to tag songs, and to view what their friends have tagged.

The service is already available on the various mobile platforms out there, including Android, where the mobile client got upgraded with the said capabilities.

The release notes for the application include:

Shazam on Android 3.2.1 Music Previews: Listen to clips of music you and your friends have Shazam’d Tag Details facelift: When you Shazam a track, feature options are more clearly displayed Location feature in Tag result: remember where you where when you Shazam’d a song.

The new flavor of the application is dated June 28th, and can be downloaded on all handsets that run under Google's Android 1.6 or newer platform releases.

The application weighs in at only 1.5MB and is available for download for free from the Android Market here.

In addition to this app version, Shazam also released a paid flavor of the software, dubbed Shazam Encore, which is available for purchase via Google's storefront here.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Shazam is the leading mobile music discovery service in the world, offering users the possibility to easily identify songs, preview them, and buy them from Amazon.

With Shazam, users can also view lyrics of the songs they are listening to, and can share the music with their friends and family. Track and album reviews, artist biographies and discographies, are also at hand with this application.
