Shazam, the music identification solution for mobile users who don’t want to miss out on any great song they hear, has received a major new update this week, adding new social features, a revamped user interface, and a more efficient Auto Shazam feature that drains less battery power, just to mention some highlights.

“Shazam is the best way to identify music and TV. In seconds you’ll know the name of any song, or more about what you’re watching - touch to Shazam to start your journey,” the developers say.

“Turn on Auto Shazam and we’ll keep finding music and TV even when you leave the app. Check out trending sounds from all around the world, and get new content daily from your favourite Shazamed artists.”

Version 7.5.0 comes with quite a few enhancements, including a new interface and new functionality.

The Shazam team proudly announces, “We’ve got a whole new track page design for you in this release. You’ll also get a new look and feel for video, album & track reviews, artist bios and more. Many song lyrics will now even scroll in time with the music.”

Auto Shazam requires less resources now, meaning it uses the iPhone’s processor more efficiently which, in turn, gives you more battery life. The developers say “you don’t need to worry about your battery life while it’s running.”

Rdio users can now add a Shazam track to any of their playlists, while Facebook aficionados can easily connect to the social network and see what their friends are Shazaming. Facebook integration also allows you to share your discoveries with others.

The news feed notifications module can be controlled much easier now right from within the app. This offers more convenience for customers who only want to be alerted by the stuff that matters to them most.

Users who want to provide feedback or need a question answered are encouraged to head over to the Shazam community pages at http://support.shazam.com. The company also tells customers to follow @shazam on Twitter to stay in the loop regarding new changes, and upcoming updates.

Currently, these new features are only for the iOS camp. Android users will be getting them soon, according to the development team.

To download Shazam 7.5.0, users need iOS 6.0 and iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, iPod touch fourth generation, or iPod touch fifth generation.
