The IGZO technology was supposed to be Sharp's way of getting over the dropping sales and other financial troubles it fell into, but its strategy may be going through a deep shift due to recent events.

Not long ago, Samsung said it was investing $111.6 million (€85.4 million) into Sharp.

Some believed this would enable the latter to expand on its IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) displays.

Now, though, a report says that, according to Innolux Corporation Chairman Tuan Hsing-chien, Samsung doesn't want its money spent on that. Instead, it wants more LCD TVs to be developed.

According to the Innolux chairman, if Samsung really wanted IGZO, it would have invested a lot more.

As such, Sharp's new display technology will have to depend on contracts with the likes of Apple.
