They allow empty 5.25-inch drive bays to actually be used for something

Though some people actually find use for all of them, most 5.25-inch drive bays of desktop computers stay unused, except for the one holding the optical drive.

Unwilling to abide by this blasphemy, Sharkoon has revealed the 5.25" Bay Extension, a double-sided drive form-factor adapter that can hold a 3.5-inch or two 2.5-inch HDDs/SSDs on the upper side, and up to two more 2.5-inch units on the underside.

And here we remark on the irony that most people don't really have more than one internal storage unit, so these trays won't be needed by most of them.

Still, it's the thought that counts, and people who buy top-tier PCs and fill them with as much hardware as possible won't mind paying the pittance needed for this (unspecified sum, sadly).

The Sharkoon 5.25" Bay Extension measures 116 x 146 x 37 mm / 4.56 x 5.74 x 1.45 inches (LxWxH) and weighs 150 grams / 0.33 pounds.

The main material is steel, but the vibration dampening washers are made of rubber and buyers can choose from black, blue, red, and green color options.
