The headphones have sound-dampening circumaural ear cups and a flexible mic

They may not be wireless, but the new headset from Sharkoon doesn't really need to be, given its focus on customers who like to play games all the time. Called GSone, the product focuses on sound quality above all else.

That is something that can be said about all headsets intended for gaming applications, so it's the “how” that we have to look into, more than the “what.”

To achieve the high sound quality expected of a high-end audio product, the GSone uses 53 mm premium speakers with circumaural cups that block most outside noise. It's the sort of passive noise cancellation that makes active technologies unnecessary.

On that note, the cushions are large and soft, preventing the headphones from pressing on the ear lobe and causing aches.

That said, the large headset is made to be very lightweight (325 g / 0.71 pounds), but still has a padded, adjustable headband, as well as a rugged microphone.

Said microphone is also flexible and can be titled up, making it go mute automatically (this is the Tilt Up Mute capability we have mentioned in the title).

On that note, the speaker volume can be adjusted via a control on the right ear cup.

As for technical specs, they are as follows: frequency response of 10 Hz to 25 KHz, music power output (MPO) of 500 mW, a cable length of 2.5 meters / 8.20 feet, two 3.5 mm connectors (one for headphones, one for microphone), a sound pressure level of 103 dB, and an impedance of 32 Ohms.

Finally, the microphone (Black Electret Condenser microphone) is a uni-directional model with -47 dB sensitivity and impedance of 680 Ohms. Its frequency response is 70 Hz to 20 KHz.

Sharkoon GSone should ship soon, for an unknown price. It will be available only in an all-black coloring.
