The animal is expected to entertain ball goers, conservationists are outraged

The students at the Somerville College in Oxford are getting ready to attend a black tie event this coming May 4. Regardless of what they choose to wear, odds are the nursing shark the ball's organizers plan on hiring and putting on display will turn out to be the belle of the ball.

Although the ball's organizers worked on the assumption that having a shark attend their summer ball would make their get-together stand out amongst others of its kind, fellow students disagreed.

Hence their causing a stir and asking that the ball's committee drop the idea and find something else to spend the money they have at their disposal on.

“I am worried about the unnecessary stress for the animal of being transported and lots of people gawking at it.”

“This is about nothing more than showing off: We’ve got so much money sloshing around we can hire a shark,” one former student reportedly said.

Here's hoping no shark will be made to attend this year's summer ball at said Oxford college.
