14 DAY TRIAL // Days after announcing her engagement, singer Shania Twain has gotten married in secret to Frederic Theibaud on the most beautiful day of the year, on New Year’s Day, People
magazine reports.
Shania and Frederic were very good friends before becoming romantically involved, shortly after her husband left her for his (Frederic’s) wife. They have been dating since 2009.
The wedding took place in Puerto Rico and was a most exclusive affair. As we speak, the first photos of the bride and groom are starting to emerge on various paparazzi websites but they are rather blurry.
“The country superstar and Frederic Thiebaud got married in Puerto Rico on New Year’s Day, her rep tells People exclusively,” the mag writes.
“They were married at sunset in Rincon, Puerto Rico, in front of 40 of their closest family and friends,” the rep says. Reports in the media suggest security was very tight at the event, which would explain the rather poor quality of paparazzi shots.
In a letter to fans posted online last month, Shania announced her engagement and spoke of love and how grateful she was to Frederic for helping her find it again, as we also informed you at the time.
She also said the pain of divorce was great and that she was thankful she had a friend to see her through it – and that the friend later became her lover. She spoke of Frederic as a “gift” from life to her.
“I am excited to share some personal news with you; I’m in love!” Shania wrote to her fans, after thanking them and her loved ones for support.
“Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship. Fred and I are happy to announce, our ENGAGEMENT!,” the singer also said.
