This looks like it's going to be a busy year for Latin singer Shakira as she's just released a new self-titled album and now she has enough material for new videos, performances and concerts. After the success of “Can't Remember to Forget You” duet with Rihanna, Shakira releases a new video called “Empire.”

The song was previewed before the release of her album and it was a strong candidate for her next video. For the rock-inspired sound which is slightly reminiscent of Shakira's earlier work, the singer opted to present a somewhat somber mood.

You'll get to see Shakira dressed as a bride who is ready to walk down the aisle, but turns away at the last minute and heads out of the church. Even more dramatically, she appears to be donning a dress made of fire at one point, while she sings “and the stars make love to the Universe.”

The musical clip was directed by Darren Craig, Jonathan Crave and Jeff Nicholas and they chose to give a little edge to their creation by focusing on the singer who seems to be fraught with internal conflict, as her white bridal gown eventually turns to an ominous black by the end of the video.
