S by Shakira, for women who believe in themselves

Though countless reports would indicate that a celebrity is only the “face” of his or her own fragrance, regardless how much they insist they had a part in the creative process, there still are stars who aim create fragrances specifically for their fans. One such star is Shakira, who has just announced the release of her own perfume, a beauty product that targets women who believe in themselves, as People writes.

S by Shakira borrows a lot from Shakira’s own personality, in that it is created with a very strong personality in mind for the wearer. Just like the Latino singer who once proclaimed in a song she was proud of her small breasts and not about to get implants to please others, the women for who S was made are confident, independent and sensual. That’s not to say they’re butch: the S woman also has a softer, very feminine and very loving side as well, just like Shakira herself.

“Get ready to unleash your inner She Wolf! Shakira, the newest addition to Hollywood’s roster of celebrity perfumers, has bottled her famous appeal for her new fragrance, S by Shakira. ‘The type of women who feel a connection with this fragrance would be independent and strong, but also a woman with a great capacity to love and a strong sense of who they are. It’s for a woman who believes in herself,’ Shakira says. The Grammy Award winner has collaborated with Puig to explore her delicate side with a scent that exudes simplicity, sensuality and self,” People writes.

“The fragrance’s signature notes are bright jasmine, sandalwood and an oriental dream housed in a luminous bottle that evokes an oriental dancer. ‘Like one of my songs, I wanted S by Shakira to tell a story, and to be something personal and unique. A perfume has to really reflect something inside you, make you connect with it in an emotional way,’ the singer muses. S by Shakira will hit shelves in September, with prices ranging from $17 to $35. But from the sound of it, Shakira is looking for a cadre of hit scents to join her platinum records, exclaiming ‘S by Shakira is only the beginning! There is definitely more to come!’” the same mag further writes.

As we also noted a short while ago, this seems like quite a busy period for celebrity-made and –endorsed fragrances. Just recently, Jennifer Aniston also debuted her own perfume in London: initially meant to be called Lolavie, it now goes by the name Jennifer Aniston. Britney Spears is another noteworthy example, with the pop star preparing to unleash her ninth fragrance to date, which speaks volumes as to how popular her perfumes are.
