One of the most anticipated movies of the summer, at least for the young adult segment of the moviegoing public, is the teen drama “The Fault in Our Stars,” in which two cancer patients meet, fall in love, and learn to live for the first time since their diagnosis.

The female lead is played by Shailene Woodley, she of the “Divergent” fame, while the male lead is Ansel Elgort, who actually played her brother in the same film. They’re now playing lovers.

Shailene is the cover girl for the latest issue of InStyle magazine and, in an interview to promote the film, she talks about how she had to go on a diet to play Hazel Grace Lancaster. Unlike most actresses, she doesn’t go into the details of her daily plan or how much weight she lost, but she does get specific on one account: no one told her that she’d go down in cup size too.

“I look at pictures of me with long hair and I think, ‘Who is that person?’ Even my voice and the way I hold myself has changed. I’m in a place where I feel healthier than I’ve ever been, and my body is exactly where it wants to be. I feel like I’m a woman. My [breasts] shrank. No one tells you that when you lose weight,” Shailene says.

There is a silver lining to this, though. “No bra, no problem!” she gushes.

In the same interview, the actress also talks about how she makes her own toothpaste and, of course, about her out of the ordinary habit of eating clay to detox, of which she also spoke on a recent appearance on David Letterman.

She might be a very atypical movie star, but she typically talks about fashion and her confidence in relation to being famous and how people tend to think that this means you’re there for them to dissect freely, whenever they feel like it.

Shooting this movie, she says, has changed her life because it “put things in perspective.”

“I realized I was good at being outwardly positive because that’s how I am by nature. But internally? I was so mean to myself. Realizing I needed to make a shift was a big moment for me. ‘[expletive] you, insecurity. [expletive] you, lack of confidence!’ When I finally realized I have to live life for myself and not for anyone else is when I started being more generous and kind and grateful, I was able to give back more,” the actress explains.
